{"id":7532,"date":"2025-03-21T06:04:18","date_gmt":"2025-03-21T06:04:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/staging.osmr.ro\/?p=7532"},"modified":"2026-08-18T09:22:46","modified_gmt":"2026-08-18T09:22:46","slug":"siguranta-pacientului-prin-siguranta-medicamentului-editia-a-vi-a-11-03-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging.osmr.ro\/en\/siguranta-pacientului-prin-siguranta-medicamentului-editia-a-vi-a-11-03-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Patient Safety through Safe Medicines \u2013 Sixth Edition, 11.03.2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This year&#8217;s edition of the <strong>&#8220;Patient Safety through Safe Medicines&#8221;<\/strong> conference, now in its <strong>6th year<\/strong>, which was organized, as always, by <strong>OSMR<\/strong> in partnership with the <strong>National Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices of Romania (ANMDMR)<\/strong>, took place on <strong>March 11<sup>th<\/sup>, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The main focus of this edition was the study titled &#8220;<strong>Attitudes of the Romanian Population Towards Falsified Medicines<\/strong>&#8220;, coordinated by <strong>Bogdan Voicu<\/strong>, sociologist and senior researcher at the Institute for Quality of Life Research of the Romanian Academy. The study is based on the results of a nationally representative survey, conducted on a sample of 1,200 respondents, with a margin of error of \u00b12.83%.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Findings of the Study:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>72% of Romanians<\/strong> trust that <strong>authorized pharmacies<\/strong> provide authentic medicines.<\/li>\n<li>However, <strong>28% believe that falsified medicines may still appear even in authorized pharmacies<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Alarmingly, <strong>7% of respondents<\/strong> think that falsified medicines have <strong>fewer side effects<\/strong> than the authentic ones, while <strong>12% believe they are even more effective<\/strong> than original medicines.<\/li>\n<li>Many respondents expect to frequently find falsified medicines on <strong>online pharmacies (57%)<\/strong>, <strong>other online websites (70%)<\/strong>, and <strong>street vendors (74%)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;The public&#8217;s trust in authorized pharmacies as providers of authentic medicines is a positive signal, validating the work of OSMR, which plays a key role in managing the medicines verification system. However, we also see a segment of the population that remains skeptical. It is our duty to support the relevant authorities in improving public communication on this critical issue,&#8221;<\/em> <strong>Lauren\u021biu Mihai, OSMR General Manager<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The event was attended by high-level decision-makers in the healthcare sector, including: <strong>Alexandru Rafila \u2013 <\/strong>Minister of Health; the President of the National Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices of Romania (ANMDMR) &#8211; <strong>R\u0103zvan Prisada<\/strong>; OSMR President &#8211; <strong>Dan Zaharescu<\/strong>; the Vide-President of the European Parliament &#8211; <strong>Victor Negrescu (via video message);<\/strong> WHO Representative in Romania &#8211; <strong>Caroline Clarinval<\/strong>, <strong>Matus Ferech<\/strong> \u2013 DG SANTE, European Commission, <strong>Kai Mjaanes<\/strong>\u00a0 &#8211; EMVO General Manager; <strong>Dmytro Lurye<\/strong> &#8211; Project Manager at Medicines for Europe; <strong>Davide D\u2019Auria<\/strong> \u2013 Director of the Economic Crime Investigation Unit, Europol; <strong>Marius \u0218tefur\u0103<\/strong> \u2013 Police Commissioner, Directorate of Economic Crime Investigation and <strong>Radu G\u0103nescu<\/strong> \u2013 President of the Coalition of Patients\u2019 Organisations with Chronic Diseases in Romania (COPAC).
